Athy Pavilion, National Ploughing Championships
This was a voluntary project whirlwind project that was turned around in six weeks. It was a great exercise in what a ‘can do’ attitude can achieve and resulted in one of the best exhibition displays at the annual event.
The National Ploughing Association donated a site free-of-charge to Athy Town Promoters during the National Ploughing Championships to be used as a vehicle to promote the town. Funding for costs was arranged through the Co. Kildare Leader Partnership as part of a Rural Development Marketing Budget. Dooley Cummins worked closely with Anthony Ryan of Hayes Ryan, Landscape Architects to design and build the installation.
It is estimated that up to 100,000 people visited the installation during the three-day event.
